A Bridesmaid No More, 01 is #1
Wow, is the 2009 race season really over? It sure seemed to come and go huh? Well it couldn't have come and gone any better for Hale Racing. With both success on the dirt and the asphault, the 01 asphault modified driven by our very own Michael Hale scored it's very first season championship this year and proved that consistency is huge in one of the west coasts most competitive classes. Hale Racing scored just two top 5 finishes all season long. Yes, just two. None of which were wins. How's this for consistency? In 2009, the average qualifying spot for Michael was 3rd place. He qualifed 1st four times, and 2nd four times as well. This proved huge in the end because the average finishing spot was 9th, yes, 9th! Surprisingly enough Michael had a 20th and a 19th place finish this year, but because of good qualifying, he was able to keep pace with his closest competitors. I honestly cannot remember if there has ever been a season at Rocky Mountain Raceways where the overall points champion did not win a race. Well it happened in 2009. Another surprising outcome was perhaps another first as well. Michael lead the points race from beginning to end. He never once gave up first place. So for 15 races, or 12 weekends (because of nights with double main events), Hale Racing held onto the points lead. Easy task? Not according to recent history. It was a long time coming, but it definitely came, and Hale Racing appreciates everyone's help and support for the 2009 championship season. If you can find a more competitive asphault class on the west coast, please point it out for me. I won't even get into the ASA Regional system as I can make a good argument why every other competing track's class is not in the same league as the modified class at Rocky Mountain Raceways. Michael and the gang would like to thank all of their great sponsors from 2009, and send a big thanks to all the fans that supported us through 2009 as well. Without the support of our sponsors and encouragement from our fans, there is no way this years run would have been possible. So, from all of us at Hale Racing, we thank you! We can't wait to see you all again in 2009. Be sure to stop by HaleRacing.com throughout the next week as I plan to have video footage from the championship race posted. Thank you for supporting HaleRacing.com. Short article written by Brad Edwards
