Well the dirt track car's final race of 2008 definitely wasn't it's best.  Bad luck struck the team pretty hard in Price back in September.  A rotor failure caused some major engine detonation and to make a long story short, severe engine damage occurred and put an end to the weekend real quick.  Although it was a costly loss, the team will most certainly be back to get dirty again in 2009.

2008 isn't quite over yet though.  That's right, we're officially less than 2 weeks away from "The Fall Classic" in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Bullring in Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  The racecar is just about ready to go, and with a little more than a week to prepare, the team is excited to unleash the crossbreed chassis that quivers anytime the 410 cubic inch small block Chevrolet tucked firmly inside of it comes to life.  It's the only time of the year this motor gets to breath in fresh air, and this team loves every minute of it.  Success is never an easy task at this racetrack, however, and with the competition including some of the best asphalt drivers across the entire country, it's always a tense event.  "This is definitely one of the most stressful races I run during the year," said driver Michael Hale of The Fall Classic.  "There's a lot of money on the line and a lot of great drivers competing for it.  You definitely have to be on-top of your game; not only as a driver, but a team as a whole."

Hale Racing has faired quite well at the Bullring in the recent years.  2004 resulted in a top 5, and next to the win in 2005, it was probably the most exciting event this team has experienced at The Bullring.  For me as a fan of this team, it was probably one of the most exciting races I've ever watched Michael drive, and to get our visitors excited for 2008, I have made the 2004 race video available for viewing (see links above).  Michael began this race in the 18th position.  He had to fight his way into the main event through a consolation race after a tough qualifying session.  It's unheard of for a car and driver to pass on the high side of the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, but Michael and the team did just that in the 2004 feature event.  The video says it all.  In 2005, Hale Racing scored their first victory at the yearly event.  Michael was the #1 qualifier for the event and lead all 50 laps to take home the victory.  2006 was a tough year for tires, and the team ended up just inside the top 5.  Last year, 2007, Michael qualified #1 and lead the most laps of anyone.  He was overtaken, fell to 3rd, then moved back up to 1st, and unfortunately didn't have quite enough tire to hold on and fell to 2nd with two laps to go... that's where he would finish.  What will The Fall Classic have in store for Hale Racing this year?  We'll find out on October 24th.

It will definitely be another exciting year at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this season, and we certainly hope some of you fans are able to come join us and cheer us on.  As I stated above, video footage from the 2004 event is now available and we highly recommend checking it out.  Keep in mind the video was taken in 2004 so the quality isn't quite as good as what we have been posting this season, but it's still worth the watch.  Thanks for visiting HaleRacing.com.  We'll see you soon!
