Coming Soon! It's official, the 2007 points season at Rocky Mountain Raceways has come to a close. Where did Hale Racing finish? 2nd... behind 1st by just 41 points. Lets make note that approximately 5 races ago, that lead was more than 170. Hale Racing did what any good team, auto racing, football, baseball, basketball, you name the sport; Hale Racing did what any great team would do... they did their best racing at the end of the season and held their own. The points race for 2nd was as tight as you're ever going to see, and Michael Hale and team was able to hold off the competition... and almost catch the leader. The tension for this event was beyond high. You could have cut it with a knife. Michael was the first car to qualify and just barely missed the top 5 with a lap-time of 16.026 that put him into the 6th spot. Frustration was high at this point as Michael found himself taking a walk a few blocks east of the pit area in effort to calm himself and regain focus. At the finish of the heat race, Michael's frustration was still high, but the all important feature race was still to be done so Michael once again took time to regain focus and keep his head straight for the final race of the 2007 season. Focus was achieved. This is the time where I might write a nice race recap, point out detail after detail of what happened, but in this day-in-age, with video recorders, and high speed internet... who needs a recap? You have a high speed internet connection right? Well, we have a video recorder. Onboard video is available for high speed connections, and I'll be trying to get a lower speed version up soon. The Camera once again lost power near the end of the event, but was able to capture everything up to and including laps of Michael leading the race, so all the action was indeed captured. We hope you'll enjoy it. Michael drove one of his best races of the year on Saturday night, and with a lot of patience and quick reflexes to avoid accidents, Michael made his way to the front, and earned Hale Racing their first win of the season. Like most wins, it certainly wasn't easy. Michael came from the back, avoided a lot of cautions, and made some excellent passes to get to the front. It was a hard earned victory and the perfect closing to the season. An accident involving the points leader and 3rd place driver, Mark Ith Jr made the points standings very interesting by race's end. Michael trimmed a 72 point lead to 41, and with Ith not being able to finish the event, Michael secured 2nd place for the third time in his Modified career. "We just have to put together some great races for an entire season... not just the 2nd half of it... Lynn earned the championship this year because that's what he did" said Michael of the championship winner, Lynn Hardy. Lynn had some kind words after the event as well. Lynn's belief is that things will be a little tighter next year, but that's still to be seen. Saturday marked just the second time this season that a car coming from the back of the field has won a feature event. It was much deserved for a hard fought season, and the team couldn't be happier with how the season ended. Compared to previous recent years, the 2007 season was an excellent one. The team didn't compete full time last year, and the year before experienced two very hard wrecks, one resulting in a helicopter ride to a local hospital. "We had a consistent place to work on the car this year, and this was a first full season with the Lefthander chassis... we learned a lot and I think we were one of the most competitive teams by the end of the year, and the results will show it," said driver Michael Hale. It's amazing what a little consistency will do for a team, isn't it? As we always do with every race article we write, Hale Racing would like to close with thanks. The 2007 points season has come to a close, and the difference between this year and the 2006 season was sponsorship. Hale Racing lacked sponsorship funding support in 2006 and competed in only a few events. The 2007 season had the much appreciated sponsorship help and the full season, 2nd place overall finish, is much owed to the help from all of our great sponsors. Hale Racing would like to give a huge thank you to all the 2007 season sponsors, and we hope you'll join the team next year as well as we hope to try for another run at the championship. We'd also like to give a big thanks to all of our great fans for supporting us each week this year. It definitely made the run for a championship a lot more fun. Seasons are filled with ups and downs, and having the support of our fans and sponsors is what keeps us going and we promise to do our best to provide more ups than downs in the 2008 season. Thanks to everyone for stopping by. We hope you'll enjoy the videos we've made available. Short article written by Brad Edwards
